Located on the edge of Enniskillen, Castle Coole is widely recognised as one of the finest neo-classical houses in Ireland. Castle Coole captures the elegance and opulence of its era, allowing visitors to glimpse what life was like in the home of the Earls of Belmore.
The house was designed by James Wyatt for the 1st Earl of Belmore and completed in 1798. This 18th century mansion showcases stunning architecture and regency interiors; visitors will be wowed as they visit the opulent state bedroom on a guided tour. The tour also tells the story of the servants who lived and worked in the basement of this magnificent property - look out for the underground servants’ tunnel!
Visitors will also hear about the filming of the period drama ‘Miss Julie’. The grounds of Castle Coole are ideal for gentle walks or cycles, as well as a more energetic hike on the Killynure walk. Enjoy stunning views over Lough Coole on the Lake walk, or take a stroll through the beech trees to see the 18th century Ice House on the estate.
On site facilities include the gift-shop, a second-hand bookshop, a children’s play area and the Tallow tea-room which seats up to 50 people and offers lunches and snacks.
