Florence Court house is a beautiful 18th Century property, the former home of the Cole family, Earls of Enniskillen.
The tall three storied Georgian mansion, containing fine plasterwork and 18th century Irish furniture also offers extensive gardens, outdoor trails and a woodland children’s play area set against the dramatic backdrop of Benaughlin mountains.
Every aspect of life in this classical Irish House, with its fine interiors and exquisite decoration, is brought to life on guided tours. Outside, visitors can discover the working estate, including a sawmill, forge and carpenters shop.
The expansive pleasure grounds house the mother of all Irish Yew trees. Keen gardeners and novices alike can appreciate the beautiful sights and smells of the historic rose garden. A current project to restore to kitchen garden means visitors can pick up fruit and veg grown on the estate.
The National Trust has taken on responsibility for the adjacent Forest Park meaning an added 15km of forest trails for visitors to enjoy; there are walks to suit a range of abilities. Onsite visitors will find the Coach House gift-shop and the Stables tearoom, a traditional style eatery which serves lunches and treats. A variety of events take place throughout the season.
